Transition Fertilisers are a range of Ausmin products that combine conventional fertilisers with natural minerals to give the “best of both worlds”. They can assist you in changing to a biological approach.

What are transition fertilisers?

Transition fertilisers are blended products that combine soluble, chemical fertilisers with slow release, natural minerals in a granule.

Depending upon the product blend, a transition fertiliser will contain a soluble fertiliser such DAP, MAP or urea along with natural minerals and carbon. Usually around one third of conventional chemicals are used when compared to regular fertilisers.

The conventional soluble fertiliser provides good levels of available N, P or K whilst the minerals provide a range of nutrients such as Magnesium, Potassium, Phosphorous and Calcium in a slow release form.

Often carbon fines are combined with the product and trace elements such as boron, iron, zinc, selenium and copper may also be present.

Why use transition fertilisers?

Although conventional chemical fertilisers can bring about impressive short term yield results they can also lead to soil health issues such as acidity, nutrient leaching and nutrient imbalances.

Conventional fertilisers may also impact negatively on your soil’s biology. Biological activity is essential for productive soils.

Transition fertilisers can help overcome some of these negative issues by minimising the damage to the soil biology that soluble chemicals can do. At the same time they can help balance the soil minerals as well as adding carbon which assists soil biology.

Application

Platinum P products are a consistent granular product and is easily spread using an air seeder, vicon or conventional granular application equipment. Granules use an organic binding agent which may break down if augured repeatedly or if exposed to moisture.
